Get To Know Holly Dysart-Ward, M.A.

Marketing & Office Manager

Holly grew up in the San Fernando Valley in California. She has always been a creative person, having done a variety of drawing and painting throughout her childhood. She also enjoyed drawing models from various fashion magazines, so her family kept telling her she should be a fashion designer. Being young and not truly sure what she wanted to do, she thought maybe her family was onto something, so she attended the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising and started by majoring in fashion design. After her first quarter there, she realized she disliked that immensely but loved the “filler” classes she had to take to complete her requirements. Those classes were marketing and advertising and the rest is history. The following quarter, she changed her major to Marketing and Advertising and has built a successful 35+ year career in these fields.

During her schooling at FIDM, she also worked in various marketing-related positions in retail, real estate, and product development. After graduating, she remained in the corporate world working as a Marketing Manager.

Later, she met her husband, Jason, and they married in 2000. In 2003, she gave birth to their son, Jake. That spurned her desire to work from home, so she said goodbye to the corporate world and started her home-based marketing and graphic design business. In 2005, she then had their daughter, Delaney. She immersed herself in being both a mother and a business owner.

During her many years working for herself, she established long-standing relationships with several clients, one of which was a non-profit organization helping families get support for their children with special needs. She became very involved in their organization and enjoyed being a part of something that was helping these families and their children succeed.

During slower times in her work, she felt the need to have a plan B, so she went back to school and earned her early childhood credits so that she could work as a preschool teacher. She had various opportunities to work in that profession, but then her graphic design work picked up again and she was able to re-focus solely on that.

In 2018, she and her family moved to Monument, CO, and immediately got involved with the community. A few months after living there, the town announced a competition for graphic designers to submit new designs for the town’s street banners. Holly jumped at the chance to submit designs and ended up being the winner. Her banner designs can still be seen on the streets of downtown Monument to this day.

In 2019, she joined the DBC team as the Marketing and Office Manager and has been grateful to be a part of this inspiring team of behavioral health professionals. She works closely with the president, Kerry Diener, and assists in a variety of creative and administrative capacities.

Outside of work, she and her family enjoy off-roading with their ATVs throughout the mountains of Colorado. She is also an avid motorcyclist and can be seen on the streets of Colorado with Jason riding their Harley trikes. They also have a small hobby farm with chickens and enjoy hanging out with their furry family members, their four dogs.

In May 2024, Jason, Delaney and Holly will be relocating to South Dakota. They are following Delaney as she begins her college journey at Black Hills State University in the Fall. Thankfully, Holly’s work can all be done remotely and has no plans to leave DBC. She is grateful to have met Kerry Diener and to be a devoted member of the DBC team.
